Shown at the exhibition En fragmentant le temps at Maison Keï Akai in November 2024, Amarante came out of a memorable moment: visiting a handmade woodworking studio. That’s where I discovered amaranth wood, which really inspired this piece.
I tried to capture its richness by playing with deep textures and colors-from dark browns to vibrant blues-with a few golden touches that remind you of the wood’s natural shine. The surface is built in layers and overlapping patterns, hinting at the density, fibers, and designs of the wood. Somewhere between abstract and suggestive, Amarante explores the balance between spontaneous gestures and careful detail, connecting raw nature with the feel of something made by hand.
